Awkwafina
American actor and musician Awkwafina made her debut with humorous hip-hop tracks that addressed racial identity and sexuality with boldly comedic perspective before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first musical experience. She played the trumpet. Apart from classical music and jazz, she began studying hip-hop in her teens. At college, she was studying writing and women's studies. Then, she even had some time learning Mandarin during her time in Beijing. She turned her attention to music once she finished her studies. The track My Vag which was her reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick, became a popular viral sensation on the Internet and later appeared on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also contained viral hits including body-positive Queef and winking tour of her home NYC Bitche$. The single that debuted was directly connected to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her guide to travel in 2015. The singer decided to make acting as a profession after having completed her two previous endeavors, author and musician. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors as well as Storks. The actress made headlines in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of notable films like Dude Ocean's Eight as well as Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
